Please make sure that you read all the following information before ordering.

Perusal copies

If you want to peruse one of our scripts there are two ways you can do that: The easiest way is for us to email it to you. If you don’t think it’s suitable then we can always email you something else. Alternatively, you can send us a cheque and we will post you a hard copy of the script. If you return the script to us within 14 days in the same condition then we’ll tear up your cheque! If you want to hear all the music you’ll need to send us a cheque for the CD on the same understanding. And if you want to have a look at the Vocal Score, the same applies!

Postage and Packing made easy!

If you are ordering just one item only (whether it is a CD, a script or a score) the cost is £2. If you are ordering more than one item (even 100 items) the cost is just £4. Simple! We aim to dispatch orders within 3 working days, but occasionally we take longer, so please allow up to 14 days for delivery.

Photocopying scripts and vocal scores

Inside each script and vocal score you will find a copyright warning telling you that you cannot photocopy pages without the authority of the publisher. As a general rule, we do give permission to photocopy if companies have made the necessary licence application, but please be aware that making photocopies without the publisher’s permission is a breach of copyright. You don’t need to buy hard copies of our scripts; they can be emailed to you and there would then be a fee for the right to make an agreed number of photocopies.

Recordings of the backing tracks to the songs

When you’ve listened to a CD you might like to consider whether you could mount your production using the backing tracks you’ve already heard rather than relying on a pianist, live band or orchestra. We do have recordings of the backing orchestrations for some (but not all) of our shows. (That’s everything you hear on the CD [plus any reprises] without the vocals.) A small additional royalty would have to be paid for using the orchestrations in performance. This royalty fee is assessed using the same criteria which determine a performing licence (ie. size of venue; number of performances; ticket price; etc.)

Performing royalties

If you decide to stage one of our shows you will need to apply for a licence. The licence covers the royalties due to the composer and publisher and protects you from any possible infringement of performing rights. Licences are rarely refused, but you should apply for a licence before starting rehearsals.

Licences are priced according to size of venue, number of performances and ticket prices. A licence application form will automatically be sent to you if you order any material from us so that you can pursue things straight away if you want to. You will be asked to give details of your proposed performances. Please send the form back to us as soon as possible so that we can let you know what your licence fee will be.

The following may be helpful purely as a guide:

• A company mounting a production in a professional theatre should expect to pay something in the region of 6 – 8% of gross box office receipts.
• A school mounting a production in a school hall and not charging for admission should expect to pay something in the region of £60 per performance.

Earwig Productions wants to ensure that your show is a success, whether it takes place in a 2,000 seater theatre or in a small school hall. Please contact us if you think that we may be able to be of further assistance with your production. We know that staging any production can be an expensive and tricky business. We‘re on your side! And we will do our best to help wherever we can.
