Oh Rats! is a musical adaptation of Robert Browning’s much loved poem, “The Pied Piper of Hamelin”. It is through-composed (no spoken words) and is similar in format to “Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” in that it makes use of many different musical styles; in this case from Rapping to the Charleston!
It was first produced with a cast of 254 and is ideal for companies wanting to incorporate large numbers in the chorus, making this show a firm favourite with schools and amateur groups. It’s fun, funny and fast-moving.
Minimum cast size: About 20, but the more the better!
Number of individual speaking/singing parts: 5 – but the Narrator’s part could easily be shared by any number of Narrators, providing lots of opportunities for the whole company.
Suitable for: Amateur companies; Schools
Running time: Approx. 1 hour 15 minutes
A backing CD of this show is available.
